Mrs. Fred Sohn Funeral Friday At Perrys

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred SOHN, 88, of Mason City, former New Hampton resident were held Friday afternoon, February 25, at 2:30 p.m. in Perry's Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Shaffer, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. D.E. Antle sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Howard David.

Burial was in Graceland cemetery with Verne MESSERSMITH, Al FORKENBROCK, J.L. CRAWFORD, Alva MILLER, Carl KEMP and Lloyd SNYDER as pallbearers.

Mrs. SOHN died February 22nd, (1955) at a nursing home in Mason City where she had been a patient for about a week. Death was due to a stroke suffered a few weeks ago. She had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry FLEMING in Mason City.

Ida Fae LEWIS SOHN, daughter of Sarah and Samuel LEWIS, was born January 27, 1867 in New Hampton where she continued to live until the death of her husband Fred SOHN when she moved to Mason City to live with her daughter. The SOHNs operated a restaurant in New Hampton for many years. Two children were born to this union.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Sadie) FLEMING of Mason City and Mrs. Lettie SCHURKE of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Gerald and Harlen FLEMING of Mason City, Mrs. Leticia THELEN of Fort Worth, Texas and Mrs. Jeanne ANDERSON of Houston, Texas; seven great grandchildren and one brother, John LEWIS of New Hampton.

Attending the services from out of town were her daughters and four grandchildren including those from Texas.
