James E. SLINDEE Newspaper: New Hampton Economist Date: October 21, 1958 James E. SLINDEE Funeral Held Saturday James E. SLINDEE, 73, Lawler, died at 12:30pm Thursday, October 16, at the Sorenson Nursing Home at Cresco. Death was caused by hardening of the arteries. He had been in ill health for several months. The son of Erick and Gertrude NORTHNESS SLINDEE, he was born on September 30, 1885, on the SLINDEE homestead in Utica Township. He lived on the home farm with his sister, Mae, all his life and attended rural schools of Utica Township and the Oelwein Business College. He was a farmer. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, he was a member of the Crane Creek Lutheran Church. He never married. Surviving are two sisters, Mae and Mrs H.C. (Carrie) NATVIG of Decorah; one brother, Carl of Lawler; and six nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 1:30pm Saturday, October 18, at the Crane Creek Lutheran Church with the pastor, Rev J.H. PREUS officiating. The church choir sang. Clara and Louise KJARVIK and Viola JERDEE had charge of flowers. Burial was in Jerico Lutheran Cemetery with Joseph JERDEE, Iver NJUS, John NISSEN, Henry BRAHAM, Jetmund KJARVIK and Carl A.
