Carl John SLINDEE Newspaper: New Hampton Newspaper Date: April 1967 Carl SLINDEE Funeral Rites Thursday P.M. Carl SLINDEE, 78, of Lawler, died suddenly Monday, April 10 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Pine Island, Minn. He had been failing in health approximately the last two years, but had been active prior to March 15 when he entered a Rochester hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday at the Jerico Lutheran Church with the pastor, Rev M.E. TWEIT, officiating. Milton ROBINSON will accompany the congregation as they sing hymns. Casketbearers were Duane KNUTSON, Clifford NATVIG, Herbert NATVIG, Alger AMBLE, Arthur JACOBSON and Raymond JACOBSON, with burial in the parish cemetery. Carl John SLINDEE was born May 12, 1888 in Utica Township, Chickasaw County, the son of Erick and Gertrude (NORTHNESS) SLINDEE. He was baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church. He attended the rural schools of Utica Township and Valders College at Decorah. He was a graduate of Valpariso University in Valpariso, Indiana. Following graduation, he taught in the rural schools of Utica Township before he entered into farming. On June 19, 1917, he was married to Anna KNUTSON at the bride’s home near Jerico. To this union were born three children: Gertrude, Mrs John J. O’KEEFE, Alexandria, VA; Edward, Elmhurst, Ill; Carol Ann, Rochester, Minn. Surviving besides his wife and children are three grandchildren, a sister, Mae SLINDEE, now of Decorah, a niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Edward in infancy; Edward, Michael and James; two sisters: Unnie and Mrs Herman (Carrie) NATIVIG. Contributed By: James H.
