A. ERICKSON, 81, DIES MONDAY AT FARM HOME
Funeral Services Were Held Wednesday Afternoon,
Burial Was in Graceland Cemetery


Andrew ERICKSON, aged 81 years, seven months and eighteen days, died Monday morning, July 13, at 11:30 o'clock at his farm home in Dayton Township. Mr ERICKSON's health had been failing for several years, but he was confined to his bed only the past two weeks. His death was caused by kidney disease.

The deceased was born November 25, 1860, in Norway, a son of Mr & Mrs Eric ERICKSON. When he was seven years old the family came to the United States and settled in Winneshiek County. At the age of fourteen, he came with his parents to Chickasaw County where he has since resided. His education was received in the rural schools near his home.

He was married to Caroline MIELKE on February 23, 1884 and they went to housekeeping on a farm five miles southwest of New Hampton. This farm remained their home as long as they both lived. Mrs ERICKSON preceded her husband in death about four and a half years ago.

Mr ERICKSON was kind to his family and lived a quiet and respectable life, making friends with those who came in contact with him.

Surviving are four daughters: Mrs Pat HANNAN (Julia) of Des Moines; Mrs Walter USHER (Justina) of Nashua; Mrs Charles MOSZETER (Alvena) of Washington; and Mrs Jake HARTMANN (Florence) of Boyd; three sons: Albert, Henry and William, all on the home farm; eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Perry Funeral Home and at 2:30 o'clock at the St Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Theodore Fritschel in charge.
Pallbearers were: Nick SCHWICKERATH, Henry SCHWICKERATH, John DeBETTIGNIES, Will WENTZ, Nick LAURES and John SCHAUDENECKER, all neighbors of the deceased.

Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.

His children were all home for the funeral except the daughter in Washington.

Mrs. ERICKSON DIES of CANCER, FUNERAL MONDAY

Mrs Andrew ERICKSON, age 70 years, one month and 10 days, died at her home in Dayton Township, Thursday, December 9, following a long illness with cancer on her leg. She had been confined to bed since May of this year, where she was tenderly cared for by her family.

The deceased was born in Germany, Caroline MIELKE, on October 30, 1867, and at the age of seven years was brought to America by her parents and they settled in Chickasaw County which thus has been her home nearly all her life.

On February 23, 1884, she was married in New Hampton to Mr Andrew ERICKSON, who survives her. They have made their home ever since in Dayton Township.

To them seven children were born, four boys and three girls, all of whom with their aged father remain to mourn the death of this kind and good wife and mother.

The children are as follows: Mrs Pat HANNAN (Julia) of Des Moines; Mrs Charles MOSZETER (Alvena) of Washington state; Albert, Henry and William, all at home; Mrs Walter USHER (Justina) of Nashua; and Mrs Jake HARTMANN (Florence) of Boyd. She also leaves two brothers, Louis and William MIELKE, of New Hampton.

To her aged husband, her children and brothers we extend sincere sympathy.

Her funeral was held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from St Paul's Lutheran Church in this city, and services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Theodore Fritschel. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Her pallbearers were Nick LAURES, Henry SCHWICKERATH, Nick SCHWICKERATH, Will WENTZ, Sam BRUMMOND and John SCHAUDENECKER.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr & Mrs HANNAN and Clarence JASTRUMSKE of Des Moines.
