Joseph H. ANNETT Newspaper: New Hampton Newspaper Date: October 1938 Funeral Services for Joseph H. ANNETT Saturday Passed Away At St. Joseph’s Hospital Thursday After A Long Illness Joseph Hiram ANNETT, a long time resident of this county, died Thursday morning, October 23 at 11:55 in the St. Joseph’s hospital in this city after an illness of three years. He had reached the age of 74 years, 11 months, and 20 days. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at Perry’s Funeral Home with Reverend James S. LILLEY, pastor of the Methodist church, in charge. Pallbearers were Joseph H. SIMMONS, Will EGGLESTON, Ed ALCOCK, John GORDON, Ray COCHRAN, and Andrew DREWELOW. Burial was in Graceland cemetery. Joseph ANNETT was born in New York state on October 22, 1863, and came to Chickasaw County with his parents, John and Sabrina ANNETT when he was two years old. He was educated in the rural schools of the county. At the age of 19 he served in the National Guards. He was married to Mary M. REMETCH of New Hampton, October 7, 1887, and they have lived all their married life in this county. At the time of his death he was living on a farm five miles northeast of New Hampton. He was a carpenter as well as a farmer by trade. Mr. ANNETT was well thought of by all who knew him. He was always a good neighbor and kind and considerate to his family. He was industrious, honest and dependable, a man who enjoyed and appreciated his associations with his fellowmen. He is survived by his wife who has been a companion for over fifty years, four sons and four daughters. Mrs. H. L. HARTMAN, (Verna) of New Hampton, Mrs. C. L. SPERRY, (Alida) of Fredericksburg, Clarence of Nashua, Lloyd of New Hampton, Mrs. Ira WILHELMS, (Cecelia) of New Hampton, Mrs. Mike SMOLINSKI, (Lenora) of Sumner and Glenroy and Victor at home, one brother Jerome W. ANNETT of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, seven grandchildren, Mrs. Glen GROVE, Irvin, Madonna, Dolores, and Lavonne WILHELMS, Francis GORDON and Thelma ANNETT, and many other relatives and friends. He and Mrs. ANNETT celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in early October of 1937. Sympathy is extended to his wife and children and all others who mourn his death.
